The CS:GO Intel Extreme Masters World Championship Katowice will see 12 teams competing for a US$250,000 prize pool and the coveted trophy at Europe's largest esports tournament. Eight of the participating teams have already received and accepted direct invitation:
Joining them will be four teams (three European and one North American) who will earn their spot through the qualifiers.
The EU qualifiers have been divided into two open and one closed qualifier. A total of six teams will advance from the open to the closed qualifier: two teams from open qualifier #1 and four from open qualifier #2. Five teams have received invites to the closed qualifier meaning we will see 11 teams in total.

Joining them from the first open qualifier will be GODSENT and Heroic so we already have quite the stacked lineup! The last four teams will be determined in the second open qualifier taking place on February 1-2. The closed qualifier will take place on February 4-5.
Three teams will advance from the closed qualifier to compete in the $250,000 IEM World Championship.
The NA qualifiers will see one open and one closed qualifier.

They will by joined by 2 teams from the open qualifier which will take place on January 21-22. The closed qualifier will take place on February 4-5.
One team will qualify to compete in Katowice for the IEM World Championship.
