The world’s current and former number one ranked CS:GO teams return to Katowice to compete at Intel® Extreme Masters World Championship!
Astralis and SK Gaming join Virtus.pro and Ninjas in Pyjamas to play for the IEM World Championship trophy.

Intel Extreme Masters once again returns to Katowice for its concluding stop in Season 11 at the World Championship event, and once again will feature a tournament in CS:GO with the world's top teams attending. We are happy to announce that joining Virtus.pro and Ninjas in Pyjamas in the tournament will be Astralis and SK Gaming!

The Danish squad of Astralis is always one of the favorites to take any tournament they compete in but struggle to reach the top. At last year's IEM Katowice, they made it to the semifinals where they fell to FNATIC 1-2 after an intense series. Some of the team's most notable results from 2016 include:

  • 3rd/4th place at MLG Columbus
  • 3rd/4th place at DreamHack Summer
  • 5th/8th place at ESL One Cologne
  • 3rd/4th place at IEM Oakland
  • 1st place at ECS Season 2 Finals

Will Astralis rise to the challenge in Katowice and lift their first IEM trophy in the Spodek arena, confirming being the number one team in the World Ranking?

SK Gaming

Current CS:GO major champions, the Brazilians from SK Gaming have been one of world's best teams for a while now, having dominated the professional stage. However, since their win at the last major, ESL One Cologne 2016, they have not been able to claim victory at any tournament. Their notable results from last year include:

  • 2nd place at IEM Katowice 2016
  • 1st place at MLG Columbus
  • 1st place at DreamHack Austin
  • 1st place at ESL Pro League Season 3 finals
  • 1st place at ESL One Cologne
  • 3rd/4th place at ESL One New York
  • 2nd place at IEM Oakland

Can SK Gaming return to their form from the first half of 2016 and get back to their winning ways? When the largest CS:GO tournaments take place, SK are always one of the main contenders for first place. How will they perform at IEM World Championship Katowice this year?

See you this March!
