ROX Tigers and Kongdoo Monster to attend Intel® Extreme Masters Gyeonggi
LCK’s number one team as well as the KeSPA Cup runner-ups will be the home crowd favorites at IEM Gyeonggi.

We are thrilled to announce the first two League of Legends teams who will be competing at Intel Extreme masters Gyeonggi - the number one team in 2016 LCK and the 2016 KeSPA Cup winners, ROX Tigers, and KeSPA Cup runner ups, Kongdoo Monster. The two teams will be the crowd favorites, playing with international teams on their home turf.

ROX Tigers

As one of the very best teams in South Korea, and in the whole world, ROX Tigers have had a very successful year. They took first place in the LCK 2016 Summer Split, second in the Spring Playoffs and again first in the Summer Split and Playoffs. They then went to Worlds as one of the big favorites to take the championship. They topped their group and, in the end, finished in the top four after losing to the future champions, SKT T1, in the semifinals. Their most recent performance was in the 2016 KeSPA Cup where they claimed another first place to add to their portfolio for 2016.

The Tigers are no strangers to the Intel Extreme Masters as they competed in the IEM World Championship Katowice 2015 in season 9. They entered the competition as big favorites to take it all however, they fell to Team WE 1-2 in the semifinals which was the biggest upset of the event.

Now, ROX Tigers are looking to claim their first victory on the international stage and lifting the IEM Gyeonggi trophy.

Kongdoo Monster

Formerly known as e-mFire, Kongdoo haven’t had the best season in the LCK. They finished last in the Spring Split and failed to qualify back in the Summer Promotion. They have, however, had a great performance at the recent KeSPA Cup where they took second place defeating teams like KT Rolster and Ever on the way.

This will be the Monster’s first Intel Extreme Masters tournament and a chance for the team to prove themselves on an international stage. With support from the home crowd, we are looking forward to see what they have in store.

IEM Gyeonggi takes place on December 16-18 in the Goyang Sports Complex - tickets are available! Be sure to follow IEM on Twitter and Facebook as we confirm more teams and announce further details about the event.
