Polish home favorites and Swedish legends confirmed for the CS:GO Intel® Extreme Masters World Championship Katowice 2017
We have our first confirmed CS:GO teams to compete in Katowice this year.

We are thrilled to announce that Virtus.pro and Ninjas in Pyjamas are the first confirmed CS:GO teams which will compete at Intel Extreme Masters World Championship Katowice. Taking place on the weekend from March 1-5, the tournament will see 12 top teams from around the world competing for a US$250,000 prize pool and the coveted IEM World Championship trophy.

Home crowd favorites and legends, Virtus.pro, will once again defend their turf in Katowice with the help of thousands of roaring and loyal fans. The team's biggest accomplishments in 2016 were:

  • 1st place at the StarLadder Invitational
  • 3rd-4th place at ESL One Cologne
  • 1st place at ELEAGUE Season 1
  • 1st place at DreamHack Bucharest
  • 2nd place at ESL One New York
  • 2nd place at EPICENTER

We cannot wait to hear the support of Polish fans filling the arena and, of course, to see how Virtus.pro will perform in Katowice this time and whether they will manage to repeat history from 2014 when they lifted the EMS One major trophy in Spodek.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NiP are another legendary and well beloved by the Katowice crowd team which we will have the pleasure of watching compete in the tournament. 2016 was a tough year for the Ninjas as they lost their legend status at ESL One Cologne and failed to qualify for the ELEAGUE major, making it the first major without the Swedes. There were also victories, including first place at StarLadder Star Series Season 2 and DreamHack Malmo. We also got to witness their fantastic victory at IEM Oakland which lead to a touching display of true passion from the players.

IEM World Championship Katowice will be a fantastic opportunity to prove once again why Ninjas in Pyjamas have been among the world’s top teams for so long, despite the bumps on the road. We’re looking forward to seeing them again live in action and hoping to see some NiP magic happen!

See you in Katowice this March
