Cloud9 step down from competing at Intel® Extreme Masters World Championship
The North American team will be not compete in Katowice this year to focus on continuing their great start in the NA LCS.

After finishing as a top 8 team at 2016 Worlds, Cloud9 received an invitation to compete at the IEM World Championship Katowice. Since then, the North American LCS kicked off for a new season and Cloud9 have been utterly dominant so far. With an undefeated 6-0 score they occupy the first spot in the standings and plan on continuing their winning streak.

With their fantastic form and performance in the NA LCS, Cloud9 wishes to focus entirely on maintaining their undefeated record and continuing to dominate in the league. A contributing factor was also the current uncertainty around visas and re-entry for Cloud9’s internationals since 60% of the Cloud9 League of Legends staff are foreigners on a visa to the US.

Although we would have loved to see them live, we understand their their reasons and wish them the best of luck in the NA LCS.

Cloud9’s replacement team will be announced in the coming days. Be sure to keep an eye out on our Twitter and Facebook for all updates.
