Brace yourself, Oakland, Intel® Extreme Masters is coming back to the Bay Area!
Intel® Extreme Masters Oakland returns to the West Coast for the 4th year!

We are thrilled to announce that Intel® Extreme Masters will return to the Bay Arena this November for its third stop of Season 12, IEM Oakland. On November 18-19, the Oracle Arena, home of the Golden State Warriors, will be filled with thousands of roaring fans who will get to witness world-class CS:GO live in action. We will invite eight of the finest teams in CS:GO to compete at Oakland and headlining that list are two fierce European rivals: FaZe Clan and the winners of the IEM World Championship 2017, Astralis.

We’ll continue revealing our directly invited teams on the following days: June 23 at 12pm PDT and June 26 at 12pm PDT - be sure not to miss the announcements to see which top teams will be joining the European powerhouses! Additional teams will qualify through a series of qualifiers to join the invited teams for the main event.

IEM Oakland is becoming the Bay Area’s premier esports event” said Michal Blicharz, Vice President Pro Gaming at ESL. “It is the fourth time in a row that we bring the world’s best gamers to the West Coast and thousands of fans have made great memories here together with us.”

Format

The twelve participating teams will be split into two groups and play matches in a round robin format. The quarter- and semifinals will be best of three while the grand final will be best of five.

November 18 - Day 1

  • Semifinals at Oracle Arena
  • Venue doors open: 10:00am PDT
  • Start time: 12:00pm PDT
  • Est. end time: 8:00pm PDT

November 19 - Day 2

  • Grand Finals at Oracle Arena
  • Venue doors open: 10:00am PDT
  • Start time: 11:00am PDT
  • Est. end time: 8:00pm PDT

Prize pool

The prize pool for the tournament will be US$300,000 (with US$1,000 per group stage win added on top) and will be distributed as follows:

  • 1st place: $125,000
  • 2nd place: $50,000
  • 3-4th place: $25,000
  • 5-6th place: $12,000
  • 7-8th place: $5,000
  • 9-10th place: $3,500
  • 11-12th place: $2,000

Intel® Grand Slam

IEM Oakland will be the fourth event that will count towards the Intel® Grand Slam (after ESL One Cologne, DreamHack Masters Malmö and ESL One New York), making it the first event at which the Grand Slam can be completed. The recently announced Grand Slam format will award a $1,000,000 prize to the first team that wins four of the last ten competitions in CS:GO in any of the major ESL and DreamHack event.
